GoNetSpeed is among the top 50 internet providers for size, but the company serves an unusual patchwork area across the eastern United States [1]. Based in Oneonta, Alabama, GoNet Speed also serves customers in Missouri and several states in the Northeast, including Alabama, Missouri, Maine, Vermont, Connecticut, New York, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts. That’s a far-flung service footprint, but apparently it works, as GoNetSpeed gets unusually positive reviews from Reddit users [2]. "Works exactly as advertised. Have had it for 3 years and love it," writes one Reddit commentor. Another confirms this, putting it plainly: "Piggybacking off all the other positive comments, great experience. Never slow, and completely reasonable price." GoNetSpeed is rapidly building out 100% fiber in its service areas, which is why its customers are very happy with what they are getting [3]. GoNetSpeed also does have some legacy DSL networks that it is supporting during the fiber buildout. The company is relatively new, formed out of a merger of six companies in 2021. It's clear that GoNetSpeed is serious about their expansion, having wrapped their 2025 $7.6 million network expansion in Danbury, Connecticut [4], as well announcing a $110M private investment to bring service to New Jersey communities, including Carteret, Northfield, Old Bridge, Parlin, South River, and Ventnor [5]. Overall, GoNetSpeed delivers fiber’s lightning speed at reasonable prices that are competitive with most other cable and fiber providers. Prices for GoNetSpeed plans currently vary from $29.99 as a promotional rate for the first-tier plan to as low as $64.99 as a promo rate for 2 Gigabit speeds. GoNetSpeed's entry-level 300 Mbps plan at $30 monthly translates to 10 cents per Mbps, which is a competitive rate for fiber service. Your location will change your pricing, though, and may even change your promotional discount. For example, at the time of this writing, prices were lower in Trumbull, Connecticut for the 500 Mbps plan than they were in Biddeford, Maine. But Maine had lower prices than Biddeford for the upper-end speeds, especially the 2 Gigabit plan which was a full $25/month cheaper in Maine. Countering those price differences is the notice on the webpage for each state about how much your prices will rise when your promo rate runs out after the first 12 months. In Connecticut, your prices will only rise by $10/month. But in Maine, they will rise by $15/month. Wi-Fi comes to you with no extra fees. A Wi-Fi 6 router is included in your basic monthly price, but some Reddit users have expressed that the default device is not the best. However, GoNetSpeed allows you to bring your own equipment, so you'll be able to have options. The other advantage of using an ISP’s router is that your provider can help you more with technical issues if you need troubleshooting. ISPs can often manage your router remotely if they need to do any updates or a reset. I've had GoNetSpeed for almost 3 years, since they first arrived in the greater Bangor ME area. I'd previously been using a cable ISP which was, at the time, the only ISP option available where I lived. When GoNetSpeed came to my area, it was a no-brainer to switch. One; they were not only a "second option" to the cable service. They were Fiber Optic, a major upgrade. Plus, when I signed up, I got the same rate as I'd previously paid for the cable ISP. So now, just recently, (spring of 2025), I am suddenly discovering another fiber optic ISP company making its way into my area. I heard sales people from this competitor company claiming the speed and internet quality for the price is far better than GoNetSpeed. Yet there was no valid information to substantiate these claims. The competitor fiber optic ISP did, however, offer me a free trial with them. So I figured I had nothing to lose trying it out and evaluating. Less than a week later, I've confirmed the speed and price of the 2 fiber optic companies is about the same. I saw no indicator whatsoever of constant, adamant claims I kept hearing about the other service being "better" than GoNetSpeed. And I have now found that GoNetSpeed has far superior customer service, tech support, communication, reliability and overall professionalism of the people who represent the company. For that reason, I will only bringing business and recommending GoNetSpeed and NOT to their competitor.
